What’s Ahead this Spring…
In May, we typically celebrate Mother’s Day. This is dear to our hearts and an important act of showing gratitude to our mothers. But did you know, that every year the BC government proclaims the month of May as Child Care Month to celebrate the work of thousands of caring and committed child care operators and child care providers throughout the province?
During the pandemic, more than ever, it has become apparent what an important role child care plays in our society; not only to support essential workers to continue to work, but also for the health of children and families. We have come to understand how child care is a key social determinant of health that crucially impacts the health, development, and economic well-being of children and families.
Here at Parkgate Society our child care has been able to continue with a sense of relative normalcy throughout this past year. Our child care has continued to provide children with an opportunity to be with friends, play, and wonder in a safe and high-quality environment, and we have continued to provide parents with the time needed for their work and life’s routines.
We are honouring our community and everybody’s commitment to our health by following public health guidelines and by staying safe. This makes it possible for Parkgate Society child care to stay open. This also makes it possible for our child care providers to show their warm smiles and sit close with your children, offering hugs and guidance without fears.
I invite you all to celebrate child care and the dedicated child care providers in this province. Please show your appreciation, share your story, write on our Facebook page, leave a comment on our Instagram page, give us a thumbs up and join the conversations about the importance child care services!
