Youth Week (May 1 – 7): In celebration of Youth Week, we will be hosting events designed to stimulate and engage youth.
Summer Camp Plans
In the next couple of weeks we will use lessons learned from our first ever Dungeons & Dragons Camp in order to further develop our summer camp schedule. The goal is to fill the need for youth camps that are not: mixed with younger children, or mainly focused on sports development. The plan is to run at least two weeks of these grade 6/7 summer camps especially since our Tofino Surf Camp will likely not occur again this year.
Let’s Talk Shop
On March 10th, we held our first Let’s Talk Shop since the onset of the pandemic. Parkgate Society Youth Outreach Workers recruited five local youth to be involved with this special night where youth speak on, and answered questions about, what it is like to be teen these days. The event was virtual and was open to parents from Argyle Secondary School. There has not been a date set for the next one yet but the plan is to have at least one more before the end of the school year.
