Welcome to Day 5 of our Virtual My Parkgate Break!

Music is a great way to start the day. How about some carpool karaoke with James Corden and Sir Paul McCartney who was knighted by the Queen on March 11, 1997. (This is a special shout out to Robert, one of our members whose father ran a pub in Liverpool where The Beatles played in the early days.)

Here is the Encyclopedia Britannica Biography of Paul McCartney if you want some more reading. https://www.britannica.com/biography/Paul-McCartney

Lunch topic of conversation.  “What is your favourite movie?” I have, of course, several but if I had to take it down to one (1) I think I might pick “Patch Adams“.  (In fact, if I hadn’t gotten pregnant with my twins (a blessing not a joke) I was about to become trained as a laughter therapist.

The physiological, psychological and cognitive benefits of laughter have been well researched.  Look here for  the benefits of laughter as outlined by the The Canadian Counselling and Psychotherapy Association.

Now that you have seen the research, here is a clip from one of my favourite movies that consistently makes me laugh. Here is a clip from Patch Adams:

Although this is one of my favourite scenes there is a great message in this movie.  Here is a link to the Gesundheit Institute https://www.patchadams.org/.

Now go ahead and have a great lunch.

Exercise time?   If it is nice outside, a walk in the fresh air is always a good idea (just stay safely distanced).  If you don’t want to go for a walk, maybe you might want to try some Chair Yoga today. All you will need is a stable chair and comfortable clothing.

Here is some juggling entertainment for President Ronald Raegan.

I hope you had a great day. I miss you all.

Check back on Thursday, April 23, 2020 for another great day (or return to this day if you are bored).
